Ora

Privacy Policy

Effective October 6, 2026

This policy explains what the Ora app collects, where it goes, and how to delete it. Ora is published by Guillermo Gonzalez, in the United States ("we", "us").

The short version

Signing in

Ora uses Sign in with Apple. Apple gives us an account identifier and an email address; if you choose "Hide My Email", that address is a private relay address. If you choose to share your name, Apple gives us that too. We don't receive your Apple ID password.

What we store

We store the following with our database host, which runs Ora's database and server functions in the United States:

What other people can see

A prayer request you share publicly is visible to other Ora users, together with your display name, so they can pray for you. Requests you mark private are visible only to you. Prayers you write for someone else's request are shown to that person.

AI-written prayers

Ora uses an AI provider to write prayers and to screen content. Here is exactly what is sent to it for each feature:

We don't send our AI provider your email address or your account ID. It keeps the text sent to write a prayer for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse, unless the law requires longer, and doesn't keep the text sent for content screening.

Moderation and reports

Before a request or prayer is posted, it goes through an automated check (a word list and our AI provider's moderation service). If you report a post, it is checked automatically, and a summary is sent to our team's internal chat so a person can review it. That summary contains the reported text and the account IDs of the person reporting and the author. If an author breaks the rules, their account can be suspended or banned.

Subscriptions

Purchases are made and billed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Our subscription service tracks your subscription status on our behalf, linked to your Ora account ID, and receives purchase information from Apple. It tells our server when a subscription starts, renews or ends, so your access stays correct.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Ora stores your device's push token with your profile and sends notifications (for example, when someone prays for you) through Apple's Push Notification service. Reminders you set are scheduled on your device. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.

On your device

Ora keeps some data on your iPhone so it works offline and so the home-screen widget can show a verse. Before sign-up, Ora also stores a random identifier on your device. It isn't linked to your account, and we use it only to limit how many onboarding prayers can be generated.

Analytics and tracking

Ora contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools. Our subscription service receives only the purchase information described above. It doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may pass crash reports to us.

Email

If you email us, including through "Report a Bug" or "Request a Feature" in Settings, we receive your email address and whatever you write. The bug-report template fills in your device model, your iOS version and the app version, and you can edit it before sending.

Deleting your account

To delete your account, go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your profile, your prayer requests, the prayers you wrote and the prayers written for your requests, your lifts, journal entries, AI-generated prayers, favorite verses, the blocks you made and the blocks others made of you, notifications and the reports you filed, as well as your sign-in account. Other records tied to your account, such as your Daily Bread responses, daily check-ins and daily prayers, are set up in our database to be deleted along with it.

Some things are not removed:

When you delete your account, your data is removed from our live database immediately and is not retained in backup copies.

Children

Ora is for people aged 13 and older.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above.
